DEMENTIA INCLUSIVE CINCINNATI

ERS is the lead partner in the Dementia Inclusive Cincinnati initiative, with the vision of establishing Cincinnati as the most dementia inclusive city in America by 2025. Inspired by the national network, Dementia Friendly America, DIC aims to combat the challenges of those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia and their care partners by creating communities that work together to create a welcoming culture with supportive options for those living with cognitive loss.

ERS is involved in several partnerships which has led to pilot programs, including:

  • Memory Cafes, in partnership with Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and The Alzheimer’s Association of Cincinnati
  • Dementia inclusive restaurant training program in partnership with The Sleepy Bee Café
  • Art Therapy and Caregiver Support at the Kennedy Heights Arts Center
  • Implementation of Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care dementia caregiver training, along with a new pilot training which incorporates elements of Improv into caregiver training to improve interactions with individuals with dementia.
