Volunteer

NOTE: We are currently still taking volunteer applications, however volunteers will be limited to certain roles for the foreseeable future.

Please refer to our CORONAVIRUS update page for the latest information.

Episcopal Retirement Services volunteers are instrumental in helping us fulfill our mission to provide quality care for seniors. Each year, our volunteers donate over 20,000 hours of loyal service in our retirement communities.

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone 13 years of age or older who is dedicated to serving older adults and giving back to their community. Whatever your reason or desire for volunteering, we will work with you to find the best match with your particular talents and interests.

What Do Volunteers Do?

Our volunteers serve in many ways, including:

  • Calling Bingo games at our communities
  • Providing clerical support
  • Training residents to use computers, software, and social media platforms
  • Arranging and delivering flowers to residents
  • Visiting residents who don’t have a strong family support system
  • Delivering hot meals through Deupree Meals On Wheels
  • Becoming a lead health minister or committee member with Parish Health Ministry

You bring the passion; we’ll provide the opportunity. If you have a specialized skill or interest that is not on this list — such as photography and videography, knitting, card playing, etc. — we will gladly find a place for you in our communities.

Benefits of Volunteering

Aside from the good feeling you get from helping others, ERS volunteers enjoy things like:

  • Complimentary access to fitness center and pool
  • Free meal while you are working
  • Training and educational experiences with documentation of service hours for schools and resumes
  • Recognition luncheon/dinner
  • Participation in volunteer/employee events
  • Free flu vaccine
  • Opportunity to learn from those with years of life experience
