Cincinnati, OH—Oct 27, 2025—Episcopal Church Home (ECH), Episcopal Retirement Services’ premier senior living community in Louisville, is celebrating a big win—again! ECH has been named a 2025 Louisville Top Workplace for the second year in a row by The Courier Journal and Energage. Even more special, both years, ECH has been the only senior living community recognized with this honor. This award belongs entirely to ECH’s incredible team members. Their passion, innovation, and dedication make ECH a great place to work and live—and being recognized for the second consecutive year makes it twice as nice.

The Top Workplace recognition is especially meaningful because it comes directly from ECH team members’ feedback. Administered by Energage, the survey measures 24 workplace factors—including pay, benefits, leadership, purpose, direction, meaningfulness, and appreciation. The voices of team members helped ECH receive this prestigious recognition, which makes this award not just an honor but a reflection of the culture ECH has built.
“Being named a Top Workplace for the second year in a row is a wonderful affirmation of the culture we’ve built at Episcopal Church Home,” said Laura Lamb, Episcopal Retirement Services president and CEO. “This is a testament to the passion and commitment our team members bring to residents, families, the Louisville community and one another each day. This recognition shows that our mission is alive in the daily work we do, and I couldn’t be more proud to celebrate this milestone with the wonderful people who made this possible.”
Episcopal Retirement Services (ERS), which owns and operates ECH, has been named a Cincinnati Top Workplace by The Cincinnati Enquirer and Energage for 16 consecutive years. That same legacy of trust and commitment is alive in Louisville, where the Top Workplace award launched in 2021, and ECH has already been recognized twice—earning the honor in both 2024 and 2025.
In addition, ECH was recently honored with The Courier Journal’s 2025 Community Choice Awards for Best Assisted Living/Senior Living and Best Retirement Community. What makes these recognitions so meaningful is that they all come from the people who know ECH best. Top Workplaces awards reflect the voices of ECH team members, while Community Choice Awards are determined by real feedback from residents, families, and the entire Louisville community.
Together, these recognitions affirm that ECH’s impact reaches every part of our community—staff, residents, families, and partners alike. That difference is what makes this recognition more than a title—it’s a testament of the mission-driven culture ECH has built and the trust the community has earned for generations.
Joan Wetzel, vice president of human resources, added, “When team members feel valued and supported, they can bring their best selves to work—and that spirit carries through to the residents and families we serve. At ECH, creating a workplace where people can grow, contribute, and feel connected is just as important as the high-quality care and support we provide.”
This recognition belongs to the team members at ECH, who have made the community a place where residents and team members can truly thrive. Their compassion and commitment to person-centered care and support create the meaningful culture that defines ECH.
Because of their work, ECH is proud to be named a Top Workplace for the second consecutive year. This honor reflects not only the quality of care and services provided, but also the dedication to enrich the lives of older adults in a person-centered, innovative, and spiritually based way.
ECH is more than a place to live—it’s a community built on compassion, connection, and care. Here, residents are supported by dedicated team members, surrounded by engaged neighbors, and embraced by families who find peace of mind knowing their loved ones are truly valued.
As Beverly Edwards, vice president of residential healthcare, explained, “We could not do the extraordinary work we do without our team. They bring compassion, skill, and dedication to caring for residents, and supporting our broader community, in ways that honor each individual.”

As part of Episcopal Retirement Services, ECH is a not-for-profit 501(C)(3), meaning profits are reinvested back into programs, services, and innovations that directly benefit older adults, not shareholders. This commitment is what continues to set ECH apart—and why so many proudly call it home.
“Families often describe the support at ECH as ‘the care I wish I could give’—a powerful representation of how our team members truly treat residents like family,” shared Beverly. “That trust is built by people who go above and beyond to provide connection, comfort, and dignity. It’s their person-centered approach that allows residents thrive at ECH.”
