Deliver smiles as a volunteer!

Episcopal Retirement Homes volunteers are instrumental in helping us fulfill our mission to provide quality care for seniors. Each year our volunteers donate more than 20,000 hours of loyal service in our retirement communities.

Who can volunteer?
Any caring individual 13 years of age or older who is dedicated to serving older adults can be a volunteer. Whether you are a student, recently retired, or searching for an opportunity to give back, our volunteer coordinator will work with you to best match your particular talents and interests. We offer opportunities within each of our communities - Marjorie P. Lee, Deupree House, St. Paul Village, Canterbury Court, and Cambridge Heights - as well as Parish Health Ministry and Meals on Wheels. If you have the time and desire, we have something for you!

Where volunteers serve:

  • The Auxiliaries of Deupree and Marjorie P. Lee
  • Bingo Callers: Direct this classic game at St. Paul Village (SPV), Canterbury Court (CCT) or Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Community (MPL)
  • Clerical/Reception Support: Assist ERH team members with projects
  • Dining Services Assistants: Help our Dining Services Team set up food service for our residents
  • Friendly Visitors: Visit with residents who don’t have a strong family support system
  • Marjorie P. Lee Corner Store Clerks: Become a member of our completely volunteer-run Corner Store Team at MPL!
  • Meals on Wheels: Deliver hot meals to older adults in our local community
  • Parish Health Ministry: Serve as a lead health minister or member of a Parish Health Ministry committee
  • Resident Supporters/Activities Assistants: Escort and assist residents at special events and outings*
  • Resident Store Clerks: Become a member of our volunteer and resident-run store team at SPV.
  • Spiritual Mentors: Help our residents worship by assisting our chaplain with Sunday am services, volunteer as a lay minister for the Episcopal Eucharist, or serve as a member of the Flower Guild or Altar Guild
  • Swim Supporters:  MPL’s new pool and fitness center is open for business, but some of our residents are apprehensive about swimming alone.  Does volunteering to swim sound like fun to anyone?
  • Specialized Supporters: Volunteer opportunities can be created to highlight a volunteer's special talent or interest, i.e., computer training, photography and videography, knitting, card playing, etc. If you have a passion, we will make it an opportunity

*Canterbury Court has a courtesy car available for volunteers' use.
