What type of living options do you offer?

What is the difference between a for-profit and not-for-profit business?

  • A for-profit business divides its earnings among its investors, and a not-for-profit puts its earnings back into the organization. In the case of ERH, we are able to raise funds from donors to support our programs and services, and to pay for things on behalf of our residents which are not covered by Medicare - such as hearing aids, scooters, and dentures.

What if I outlive my savings?

  • ERH is proud of the fact that we have never had to ask a resident to leave for lack of funds. Our residents continue to live just as they always have in our community, while ERH raises funds to offset the ever-growing expense to do so.

Is ERH a financially stable organization?

  • ERH's board and management are very fiscally responsible. Click here to view our latest Form 990.

My income is limited and I can't afford to live in a luxury retirement community. Is there something for me?

  • Absolutely! We offer three lovely affordable independent living communities in Cincinnati (St. Paul Village), West Carrollton, Ohio (Canterbury Court), and Cambridge, Ohio (Cambridge Heights). Our affordable communities offer services an amenities above and beyond what you would find elsewhere.

Are there rigid schedules and rules in the communities?

  • ERH follows a Person-Centered Care philosophy, so there are no rigid schedules for our residents. The only rules in place are for the safety, well-being, and security of our residents. Imagine life at home, and you've imagined life at an ERH community.

What is Person-Centered Care?

  • Person-Centered Care is, in a nutshell, individualized caregiving. Each person is different...some like to sleep late and eat a leisurely brunch, while others are night owls who crave a midnight snack. Some like a long soak in the tub, while others like a quick shower. Our staff works with residents on an individual basis, based on their personal preferences...there is nothing institutional about it. We never forget that our residents do not live in a facility, we work in their home.

What is the staff turnover rate?

  • The turnover rate at ERH is remarkably low in our industry. Where the national average for staff turnover in nursing homes is about 68%, ERH is proud to say that our turnover rate is only 16.5%. We strive to create a positive, fulfilling work environment for our employees, which translates to a happy, consistent living environment for our residents. Our staff and residents are like extended family to one another.
