About Us
For over 50 years, Episcopal Retirement Homes (ERH) has been dedicated to improving the lives of older adults through innovative, quality living environments, and older adult services. We offer a variety of Living Options to accommodate all levels of care:
- Independent Living
- Assisted Living
- Assisted Living with Memory Support
- Nursing Care
In addition to Deupree House and Marjorie P. Lee, Cincinnati's premier retirement communities, we offer affordable housing options for lower-income seniors at three different communities in Ohio including Canterbury Court, Cambridge Heights, and St. Paul Village.
ERH also provides services for seniors living in their own homes through Living Well Senior Solutions and Deupree Meals on Wheels. And finally, ERH's Parish Health Ministry coordinates a large network of churches to provide grassroots health-related services throughout Southern Ohio.
Founded in 1951, ERH is dedicated to providing services for persons of varying economic circumstances regardless of ethnic origin or religious affiliation. As part of our mission, ERH commits more than $1.2 million each year to resident philanthropic services. In large part, these funds ensure that no resident in any of our communities will ever be asked to leave for financial reasons.
ERH is a proud member of the following associations:

Frequently Asked Questions:
How long has ERH been in business?
- ERH has been serving the needs of older adults for over 50 years, beginning with its flagship community, the Marjorie P. Lee in Hyde Park.
Do you offer a continuum of care?
- The Deupree House and Marjorie P. Lee communities each offer a continuum of care.
What type of living options do you offer?
What is the difference between a for-profit and not-for-profit business?
- A for-profit business divides its earnings among its investors, and a not-for-profit puts its earnings back into the organization. In the case of ERH, we are able to raise funds from donors to support our programs and services, and to pay for things on behalf of our residents which are not covered by Medicare - such as hearing aids, scooters, and dentures.
What if I outlive my savings?
- ERH is proud of the fact that we have never had to ask a resident to leave for lack of funds. Our residents continue to live just as they always have in our community, while ERH raises funds to offset the ever-growing expense to do so.
Is ERH a financially stable organization?
- ERH's board and management are very fiscally responsible. Click here to view our latest Form 990.
My income is limited and I can't afford to live in a luxury retirement community. Is there something for me?
- Absolutely! We offer three lovely affordable independent living communities in Cincinnati (St. Paul Village), West Carrollton, Ohio (Canterbury Court), and Cambridge, Ohio (Cambridge Heights). Our affordable communities offer services and amenities above and beyond what you would find elsewhere.
Are there rigid schedules and rules in the communities?
- ERH has initiated a Person-Centered Care approach to serving our residents, which abandons the restrictive confines of traditional nursing home schedules, and replaces them with freedom of choice and flexibility which each person desires. When you're in an ERH community, you are at home...and free to live your day-to-day life any way you wish.
What is the staff turnover rate?
- The turnover rate at ERH is remarkably low in our industry. Where the national average for staff turnover in nursing homes is about 68%, ERH is proud to say that our turnover rate is only 16.5%. We strive to create a positive, fulfilling work environment for our employees, which translates to a happy, consistent living environment for our residents. Our staff and residents are like extended family to one another.
What are the Medicare ratings for ERH communities?
