Guided
by our faith, ERH is committed to connecting body, mind and
spirit to improve the lives of older adults. Included in our
very definition of wellness, manifested by acts of philanthropy
and community service, our spirituality is what sets us apart.
Nowhere is it more evident than in the presence of our chaplains.
ERH’s program places a full- or part-time
chaplain at each residence. They conduct services and Bible
classes, celebrate life’s happy events and attend to
us at life’s end.
“At ERH, chaplains do more than make
guest appearances in our lives. They are part of the glue
that holds our community together,” says Paul Scheper,
Chief Financial Officer, Episcopal Retirement Homes
Where faith sets us apart
Every ERH residence offers a place to worship. These spaces
are rarely empty. People wander in to pray, listen to music
or sit and enjoy the quiet.
On an individual level, chaplains continually
help members of the ERH family deal with grief. Family members
turn to trusted chaplains to help them cope with a loved one’s
illness and loss of function. And residents themselves, dealing
with the issues of aging, often seek chaplains for solace.
ERH intends to maintain—and expand—our
commitment to chaplaincy programs. We believe that our chaplains’
work will grow as our wellness program places greater emphasis
on spirituality.
