CINCINNATI, OH (Oct. 3, 2003) - The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) will be conducting re-accreditation surveys of both the Deupree Community and Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Community (MPL). The survey for the Deupree Community will take place on November 6, 7 and 8, while the survey for MPL is scheduled for November 3, 4 and 5.
The purpose of the surveys is to evaluate the each community's compliance with nationally established JCAHO standards. The surveys' results will be used to determine whether, and the conditions under which, accreditation should be awarded.
According to Laura Lamb, Episcopal Retirement Homes' executive officer of Hospitality Services, JCAHO standards deal with organizational quality of care issues and the safety of the environment in which care is provided. Anyone believing that he or she has pertinent and valid information about such matters may request a public information interview with JCAHO field representatives at the time of the survey. Information presented at the interview will be carefully evaluated for relevance to the accreditation process.
Requests for a public information interview must be made in writing and should be sent to JCAHO no later than five (5) working days before the survey begins. The request must also indicate the nature of the information to be provided at the interview. Such requests should be addressed to:
Office of Quality Monitoring
Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
One Renaissance Boulevard
Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181
JCAHO will acknowledge such requests in writing or by telephone and will inform the organization of the request for any interviewee of the date, time, and place of the meeting. This notice is posted in accordance with JCAHO requirements.
Episcopal Retirement Homes, Inc., is a Cincinnati-based, not-for-profit organization that owns and manages The Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Community and The Deupree Community in Cincinnati, Canterbury Court in West Carrollton, Ohio and Stoney Brook, an upcoming adult living community in Columbus.
