CINCINNATI (April 2, 2008) – Episcopal Retirement Homes, Inc., (ERH) officially broke ground on its expansion project to enhance living at Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Community (MPL) during a ceremony on March 11.

Construction for the expansion and renovation will occur in two phases. The first phase of construction will occurwithin the campus between the assisted living and independent living apartments, overlooking the beautiful east garden area. Phase I will enhance residential care through three specific amenities:

  • The Archea dining room will offer residents more choices and flexibility for their dining experience. Complementing the terrace dining venue will be a new kitchen, private dining room, and expanded lounge area.
  • To reinforce ERH's mission for living well, the aquatic center will benefit residents and staff with a warm-water pool and spa, therapy room, wellness staff office, and locker rooms.
  • A large, accessible, comfortable space will serve as Marjorie P. Lee's new event center. With improved sound and video quality and a moveable stage, audiences will be better able to enjoy programs that inform, amuse and entertain.

The second phase, expected to begin in fall of 2009, will focus on reconstructing the nursing care units to uphold the person-centered care philosophy. Also, there will be construction to rejuvenate the campus with features such as a new craft room, garden re-landscaping, and a new lobby coffee corner.

With both phases, ERH is combining its exceptional care with innovative enhancements to enrich living at Marjorie P. Lee. The groundbreaking ceremony successfully kicked off the exciting new endeavors for Marjorie P. Lee with a service and celebration that invigorated  residents, staff, and the public for the future improvements.
