Making Giving her Living
For Pat Landen, volunteering is a full-time job... literally. The Deupree House resident has volunteered 40 hours per week, five days a week at Marjorie P. Lee (MPL) since 1987. She seldom misses a day.
Volunteering has always been a large part of Miss Landen's life -- long before she moved to Deupree House. Some of her many activities include sorting mail for residents and staff, stuffing payroll envelopes, answering phones on nursing care units and transporting residents to the MPL Beauty Shop. In fact, Miss Landen recently made a sizeable gift to Episcopal Retirement Homes in thanksgiving for the residents she serves.
In addition to Miss Landen's countless hours of volunteer work, she has also donated wheelchairs to MPL and made a gift in her late brother's honor (Joseph, a former ERH board member). She is also a member of the Living Legacy Society, a group of individuals who have made a planned gift to ERH's endowment or one of its programs.
But for now, Miss Landen enjoys making an impact on residents' lives by being there for them every day... and that, perhaps, is her greatest legacy of all.
